Wish We Were There: Mood Indigo

Things that stop us, Insider slaves from attending events? (Events we have been drooling over for months): Work, lack of holidays, lack of sleep, lack of money (We order a lot of food, everyday) and lack of time. And age.

Mood Indigo is IIT-Bombay’s festival baby that has thrived into Asia's biggest college fest. Started in 1976, with a budget just Rs 5000, the college has now successfully pulled-off close to 40 editions of the festival (Yeah, ask your dad about it). The festival has hosted some brilliant musicians in the past, acts like English rock band Porcupine Tree and Australian rock band Karnivool. It manages to attract some of the most talented people from across the country. Talented COLLEGE people (Yes, the festival is open for only college students. Hence, our problem= age).

And had we been 5-15 years younger, this is what we would have attended on each of the days this year:

    Day One

This Mumbai hard-rock/Bollywood rock band was rated as one of the best Hindi rock acts in India and has done over 100 packed gigs across the country. These Bollywood loving musicians will be opening for the headlining act of the day, Shaan.

One of our all time favourites, Bollywood and pop singer Shaan's music is etched in the mind of every 90's kid. The Hindi vocalist will be performing as his classic hits like "Tanha dil,""Jane kyun" and "Koi kahe."

    Day Two

One of the first independent bands to emerge out of Delhi, no one does classic rock as good as these guys. Must hear song of theirs- “But it Rained.” Also look out for their AC/DC covers.

    Lucky Ali

The Insider team feels the 90’s were the best time for music and therefore, this one's another treat. The man with the golden voice, Lucky Ali has created some of the most haunting anthems that instantly take you back to those simpler times. His unforgettable track “O Sanam,” from his award-winning album Sunoh, still resonates with people, thanks to its soulful lyrics and tune. Revel in nostalgia and join him as he performs his classic hits like “Kitni Haseen Zindagi,” “Tere Mere Saath” and “Gori Teri Ankhein Kahen.”

    Day Three

LA-based platinum recording artist Borgeous has already had three Billboard Dance Radio Top 10’s, three Beatport #1’s and a #1 on the iTunes Dancechart in 15 different countries.

The DJ/producer hit "Tsunami," in collaboration with Canadian electronic music duo DVBBS is one track that makes us dance like nobody's watching. We can’t think of a better party this December, so make sure you are there for this.

    Day Four

One of the leading music composers in our country, Bengali musician Pritam has been on our Bollywood list since forever. Headlining the festival, the music director has given us some unforgettable hits with films like Barfi, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai.

And from what we have heard, stars like Javed Ali, Neha Kakkar, Aditi Singh Sharma, Antara Mitra, Nakash Aziz and Amit Mishra will also be joining him on stage. This looks like star-studded affair that we are absolutely gutted to be missing. If you can make it, go!
